Itinerary

Full day Introduction to White Water

Whether staying in Jinja or Kampala, we will provide free transport to our kayaking meet point, Explorers River Camp at Bujagali. Please ensure that we are aware of your pick-up point by the night before.

From our base you and a Kayak the Nile instructor will head to the river below the camp. The flat water on this section of the Nile provides the ideal environment for us to teach you the fundamentals of white water kayaking. You will be introduced to the key concepts - learning how to control your boat and where it goes, how to get out of your boat if you need to and the basic strokes and techniques that will help you on the white water in the afternoon.

After lunch and a short cut through the villages, we rejoin the river at the first free-flowing section of the Nile. Using the skills that you have learnt in the morning, with your guide leading the way, you will tackle 8 km of rapids over the course of the afternoon. Kayaking down the rapids on your own steam provides lots of challenge, lots of fun and a great sense of achievement!

The warm, deep and safe white water on this section of the Nile make it a dream place to kayak for the first time. and you need absolutely no prior experience, the instructors will tell you all you need to know.

At the end of the day a car will meet you with a cooler of drinks and drive you back through the villages to Explorers River Camp. where you can check out the epic sunset views from the deck of the bar.
