The village of Bujagali surrounds our campsite and can be leisurely explored at any time of day. All that is required for this wonderful experience is a warm smile and a good pair of walking shoes!

Soft Power Education (US$15.00 donation suggested)

Soft Power Education (US$15.00 donation suggested) Soft Power was started in 1998 by a group of travel addicts. Its aims were to provide simple yet effective methods for tourists to touch base and give to communities with genuine spirit. Working in Primary schools around Jinja, even building a Children's day center for Orphans, the benefits of collaboration between tourism and community are obvious and have enabled hundreds of tourists to form sincere bonds of friendship with Uganda and its many children. Soft power education works with children, teachers, parents and guardians to create stimulating environments for learning and play.

Our volunteers give a day or more of their travels to visit the projects around Jinja and join in. Meeting the children and staff is rewarding in itself. Our Project leader will have designated a task for the day which could be anything from teaching a nursery rhyme to laying a floor. The work will be tailored to suit the capabilities of each volunteer. The project can give an enriching experience to the passing tourist who, for once, leaves more than footprints.
